Birth trends and survival among children with Down syndrome

 

This project looks at the number of people with Down syndrome who are born and who die in childhood compared to other children.

What we did

We looked at how many people with Down syndrome are born in Scotland.

We looked at how many people with Down syndrome die when they are children compared to other children.

What we found

We found that the number of people with Down syndrome being born in Scotland has increased over the past 20 years.

We found that more people with Down syndrome die when they are children compared to other children.

What we will do next

We will write a report about this.

We will share this information across Scotland to make improvements to the health care of people with Down syndrome.
