How medicine and physical health conditions can contribute to poor oral health in adults with learning disabilities

This project looks at the oral health of adults with learning disabilities.  We want to know if medicine and health conditions make their oral health worse.

What we are doing

We are looking at lots of information about 4,000 adults with learning disabilities.

We want to find out more about the problems people have when taking oral health medicine.

How we will do it

We will try to find out if people with learning disabilities have poor oral health because of:

Certain medicines they take

A physical health condition

We will try to find out if certain physical health conditions results in poor oral health.

What we will do next

We will share the information that we find.

If we find that people are being given too much medicine then we will let doctors know.
