Management of long-term conditions in primary health care for adults with learning disabilities

This project looked at how the health care of adults with learning disabilities is managed.

What we did

We looked at the findings of a study of people from the years 2007 - 2014 who had completed a health check.

We compared the details of people with learning disabilities to other people in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

What we found

We found that people with learning disabilities get poorer health care than other people.

The difference is getting smaller over time and people with learning disabilities are getting better care.

We wrote a report and it was published in a health journal.

What we will do next

We will share this information across Scotland.

We suggest that health checks are offered to people with learning disabilities.
