Practical resources, interventions and guidance

Evidence-based solutions and practical interventions

Below you will find a wide range of evidence-based, solutions-focused interventions and resources designed to improve health and wellbeing for people with learning disabilities.  These have been developed across our whole programme of research, from lifestyle interventions such as the My Diabetes and Me education programme, to the innovative Smart Bra for Breast Cancer Screening, to adapted psychological therapies for depression with the Beat It studies, and Talk LD school lessons to address bullying and stigma.

Find out about these practical interventions and many more, including downloadable guides and resources, at the links below.

These guided self-help booklets were created with people with learning disabilities, to give people the understanding and skills to cope better with their feelings and the problems that they are facing, helping them to feel better.

Find out more about this resource for families which was co-created with parents, family carers and neurodivergent young people. Developed through a series of workshops and focus groups and underpinned by research, this resource draws together information and guidance that families told us they would find most beneficial.

Talk LD is a school-based intervention to prevent bullying and promote understanding about people with learning disabilities. This anti-bullying resource was developed to help promote the understanding and acceptance of people with learning disabilities, through a series of interactive lessons delivered to S1 or S2 pupils in a school setting.
